Religious Education

Holy Spirit College is a Catholic community founded on the Gospel values and the model of Jesus Christ. Guided by the Holy Spirit, our faith teaches us to 'have life and have it to the full" (John 10:10).

The Religious Education Program aims to help students develop a sound knowledge and understanding of the history, traditions, beliefs and practices of our Catholic faith providing them in turn, with the skills and opportunities to express, contemplate, interpret, analyses and deepen their personal commitment to that faith.

The classroom Religious Education Program for years 7-12 is based on the Sydney Archdiocese Secondary Curriculum 'Faithful to God: Faithful to People'. Students completing the School Certificate will receive a grade in Catholic Studies. Students completing the Higher School Certificate will study either Catholic Studies or Studies of Religion.

Students will have the opportunity to express their faith in a variety of ways and in a range of contexts. Regular participation in prayer, reflection and liturgy will take place individually, within classes, at Year group level, whole school level, at Spirituality Days and at voluntary prayer services in the College Chapel.

The College enjoys the interest and support of the Priests of the local parishes. Regular opportunities are provided for students to celebrate Mass and Reconciliation.
